Who Qualifies For Your Bursary Or University Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application process.

Applications are actually open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant will have to meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who arises from a home with a combined gross house income that does not exceed R350 000 per annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household earnings will not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients automatically qualify for funding and need not post any proof of earnings.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open to all South African citizens and permanent residents from homes with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to deliver the correct Id Document numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored of their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are studying or plan to study in a public university or TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for nsfas 2025 NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
